Slayy point college kids made lakhs while studying: Hello readers today's story about the youth of social media some waste time on it and some youth earn by it so here a small summary people after college they just chill they don't go straight home. we have to go back and script..or idea or shoot. you immediately rush home after college and work. so sometimes, I couldn't even take one day off in a week.. so even half day so then we have to shoot on Sundays. so I would come back from college, then we would shoot till 8,9,10 pm at night, but we just have to finish in one day. actually, it's not like there's a lack of time! the truth is that people are not making the best use of their time. so you need to make a proper schedule and priorities that because this important for me, so I will do this. and I don't know if it's a coincidence or not but.. our marks have actually increased, since we started doing YouTube. believing in ourselves is something that we have learnt very recently. like you saw we were limiting ourselves too much. ''We can't do this, we can't do that'' but once we did it, we thought ''oh! This wasn't that hard!'' it was normal.

We are talking about college entrepreneurship today. two 21 year olds, who actually teach you a lot more than you have ever learnt from textbooks, this story about gautami- and -abhyudaya. the founders of 'Slayypoint'. and they are India's top youtubers at 21. and they are college businessmen and businesswomen at 21.
Their thoughts
Managing attendance and being consistent
on YouTube. that's the toughest thing for us because, in my college, you have to maintain at least 75% (of attendance). which means we couldn't afford to bunk college for more than one day in a week. so we had to finish shoots within that one day. the kind of people we are, we actually like to study also and we give in our best there as well. I think the way that we have been brought up is you always have to study. along with that. do what you want, but you always have to study. so we have never looked at YouTube like, ''OK, we will just quit studies and do YouTube,'' so, now we are really confused because we get good marks and YouTube is also doing pretty well. so, we are really confused that, what's the next step.- about direction to choose.
Their parents's thought
Initially they didn't understand. I think they didn't look at it as- they saw it as posting memes on Facebook. like it's just a random thing. like you start a page and post anything, that's what was happening. and you are just having fun, and then they started seeing it as, OK now they are going out and speaking to people and people are coming to meet them. ''So you are learning speaking skills'' then you are talking to brands. OK they are learning a bit of money and business.
Their thoughts
'' So for now, they were just like, we are letting you do this, because you are learning so much about real life or about a certain industry or something.'' but now, as the decision point is coming, even they are as uncertain as us. because, although we know it's going to only grow, but, we can't put any numbers to it (The business) or predict exactly what's going to happen.
THROUGHOUT THIS JOURNEY, WHAT'S THE WORST THING THAT YOUR PARENTS HAVE TOLD YOU ALL? LIKE IT'S BEEN THE MOST DEMOTIVATING.
''You know it's not gonna last anyway, so why do you want to put so much effort? ''leave it, let's just do masters.'' it's not gonna be fruitful probably you guys don't even understand enough to a business and all that for me, I don't get demotivated because I get where they are coming from. as a parent. you are bound to be concerned when... your child is gonna take this route which is so uncertain. so yeah. I get it but then I try to prove it to them with time because now I have managed to prove it to them with the brand deals and the money that's coming in and also... with the I try to show them the fan following and the people who are watching our channel. so that's something that convinces them a little bit but they don't show it as much because... they feel like, like our children should be grounded. we shouldn't encourage them too much. grounded as in humble meaning they (we) shouldn't get carried away basically as, OK I have so many subscribers. ''you have so many subscribers.'' you have people coming to you and taking pictures. but you are still 21 and you are still my child. that's the perspective.
DO YOU THINK THEY, SECRETLY IN THEIR HEARTS, WANT YOUR YOUTUBE TO GROW A LOT? HAVE THEY TOLD YOU THAT THEY ARE PROUD OF YOU ALL?
But yeah, they always keep questioning that, after 5 years, you won't be famous anymore. or after ten years, you probably won't be famous anymore. and you won't get as many views that will you do? so when you spend so much time- if I spend five years in a field , and I get... superficially if you think about it, if I ever get peak stardom, and if I have experienced all of these phase, then I know so much about... the industry and the business that I will... expand and do something in that line, something or the other...
SO WHAT HAVE YOU ALL LEARNED FROM THE WORLD OF YOUTUBE? NOT JUST VIDEO CREATION, BUT THE WHOLE BUSINESS PROCESS, WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT?
Talking to people because I am big introvert like, when YouTube told us you are gonna host the red carpet.'' I was... a little bit disappointed like, ''why are doing this''? I will have to speak on stage.'' yeah! how are you trusting us? yeah! like I don't wanna speak on stage.'' but then, after that experience. I gained a lot of confidence on how to speak on stage in front of so many people. and how important it is to also like speak to others and the way you are with others, and it's not like when you are doing YouTube, you are just doing YouTube, you are also making content while talking to brands.. and few other things and opportunity here and there. so that is one pressure. handling criticism and ignoring what other people are... saying about you is I think the best thing that I have learnt, I was very conscious that, '' why is he thinking this about me?'' but on YouTube, you can't be like that-yeah, because hundreds of people will hate you. and you can never please everyone.
A LOT OF PEOPLE MY AGE AREN'T ACTUALLY GOING FOR THEIR MASTERS. WE ARE LIVING IN 2019 AND A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE THIS MENTALITY OF... NOT GOING MASTERS BECAUSE THEY FEEL THAT WORLD HAS TRANSITIONED FROM GIVING MORE IMPORTANCE TO EDUCATION...TO GIVING MORE IMPORTANT TO SKILL AND.. PRACTICAL. APPROACH TO LIFE AND ALL THAT. IF I TELL YOU TOMORROW THAT YOU ALL WON'T DO A MASTERS, DO YOU ALL FEEL YOU HAVE ENOUGH SKILL TO SURVIVE IN THIS WORLD?
Yeah definitely from what we have learnt in the last 3 years, I think yes we can.
A 100- CRORE COMPANY TOMORROW WHAT WOULD BE YOUR REACTION? DO YOU ALL BELIEVE THAT? THAT'S POSSIBLE?
No as a channel 'slayypoint' no but if we start doing something like you are and... maybe expand in that way. then maybe. I think because we have this in our mind that, OK let's just...cross 5 million first, let's just become established youtubers first. and then focus on the business aspect because we are not even at a million right now, so basically our channel is also not that sorted... that ''OK you are established like a YouTube.'' I think our issue is also that we have accepted that label that... ''aap log bacche ho'' you guys are too small or too young''. then that kind of hinders.
WHY DO YOU THINK THERE'S SO MUCH LACK OF SELF- CONFIDENCE AMONGST YOUNG PEOPLE? AND THIS NOT JUST YOU ALL, THIS HAPPENS TO ALL YOUNG PEOPLE. EVEN AT YOUR AGE. I WAS LIKE VERY UNDER CONFIDENT.
I think the first mental block is that you are young, so we just feel that we can't be as good as someone who is 25 years old because we don't have that experience. so it's just a faulty perception that they know more than you, they probably, some of them don't. a lots of people around you telling that you should study right now, what are you doing?'' so that holds you back that am I taking the wrong decision...by focusing on YouTube? also friends around you who are jealous, they might tell you that. it's okay you have subscribers, but I still get more marks than you'' but doesn't matter right? Listening to haters basically and your haters aren't just on YouTube, they are in college as well there are some, there will always be some people.. who are jealous of you, who are showing it very indirectly but it's damaging to your self esteem sometimes. believing in ourselves is something that we have learnt very recently, like we saw that we were limiting ourselves too much thinking...we can't do this'' we can't do that'' we can't speak on stage.'' but then when we did it, we were like this has happened so easily, it was very normal,'' so, we started believing in ourselves just recently, not trying something after listening to others is a big loss.
A LOT OF COLLEGE KIDS, ALL THEY DO IN COLLEGE IS PARTY AND THEN STUDY DURING EXAMS WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR THEM IN THAT STUDYING PHASE? HOW HAVE YOU ALL BEEN ABLE TO SWITCH OFF FROM ALL THIS TENSION OF...BRANDS AND YOUTUBE AND CONTENT, AND ABHYUDAYA AND GAUTAMI AND THEN FOCUS ON YOUR STUDIES.
We take both with equal importance, it's not like we are running YouTube then this is more important or... study is more important because it is exam, both are equally important so when it comes to studies, we give it our all like we will stay up all night before exams. we will study for as long as we need. but we will never compromise on either of the two, if this is the portion and I am supposed to complete it. then I am supposed to complete it. yes we will complete it, and I am supposed to know each and every point so I think your key is dedication. and for us it was never an option to compromise on studies because our parents would not allow us to continue with YouTube because we are like average student, we get good grades so our parents will be like ''first the grades used to be good. now they have turned bad because of YouTube,'' and you need to priorities. some people are like '' I don't have time I got to tuition. and all that so you need to make a proper schedule and priorities because.. this important for me this is important for me so I will do this so it's important to follow a schedule at this age I guess and I don't know if it's a coincidence or not but our marks have actually.. increased.
Since we started doing YouTube. actually it's not like we have less time it's actually that people are not making the best use of their time so with my friends also it happens that I see them doing that one chapter it takes them 6-7 hours and I am able to do it in 2 hours it's not like I am smarter than them, it's just that we have realized that with balancing so much that in a shorter amount of time period, you can actually get so much done.
IS THAT A LIFE SKILL, YOU HAVE LEARNT FROM YOUTUBE? yeah probably be it left us with no options because would start studying one month before the exam if you want the same high grades. then you have to make the most of it. DO YOU ALL FEEL THAT ALL THESE THINGS THAT YOU LL DID. ANY COLLEGE KID CAN DO IT IF THEY GET TO IT? Exactly. we didn't learn anything, we didn't know how to act, we still don't know we just know how to press the record button and focus that's all and yeah we didn't learn how to edit. so, everything, we have just learnt with time because...we were just interested in making content. so if you are interested in that, you can learn everything else. that's not problem.
